Kramer Nightswan
#1
Jan got this guitar from the Kramer factory in New
Jersey all in bits as the Nightswan
was not out at that time. He
put it together in a hotel
room and it worked without any
adjustment whatsoever. What an
instrument! At present it has
a PRS HFS in the bridge and a
DiMarzio PAF pro in the middle
position. The pickups were changed
out all the time in the
early days but for the first
album there was a Bill Lawrence
in the bridge and middle mostly.
Hoodlum circuitry (a
level booster with a series of
low pass filters which are individually
selectable on the body via mini
toggle switches) is built in,
powered by a 9 volt battery.
The body is painted by Jan himself,
using various paint pens.

Also
painted by Jan, this guitar came
from a guy Jan met years ago
who was in a support band
when he was gigging in the UK.
He swapped the guy one of his
other guitars for
it. Hoodlum cicuitry again here
but with different pickups. Jan
is about to load a Bill Lawrence
into the bridge and a Jeff Beck
into the middle. Jan says this
guitar just doesn't quite have
the magic of the first one but
is still pretty darn good and
a lot easier to play. |
